Set up your theme

Follow the setup guide on the Dashboard to add the brand page and directory templates, create the directory page and turn on the styles.

The Setup guide on VendorDeck’s Dashboard checks your published theme and ticks off each step once it finds it. Its buttons open the theme editor with the block already added: click Save there, then Check again in VendorDeck.

Import your brands

VendorDeck does this when you install it. If no brands show up, open Brands and click Sync brands.

Add Brand page content to the brand template

Brand pages use a page template named exactly brand. Click Open theme editor, open the page selector at the top (it shows “Home page”) and choose Pages > Create template. Name the template brand and click Create template.

Back in VendorDeck, click Add Brand page content. The theme editor opens the template with the block in a new section: click Save.

Your theme’s page title already shows the brand’s name. If you turn on the block’s Show brand name setting, hide the theme’s Page section, or the name shows twice.

Add Brand directory to the directory template

The same as the step above, with a template named exactly brands-directory and the Add Brand directory button.

Create the directory page

Click Create directory page. VendorDeck creates a published page titled “Brands” at /pages/brands, using the directory template.

For another address, change Directory page handle in Settings > URLs before you create the page. To rename the page later, edit it in Online Store > Pages. Add it to your store’s menu in Content > Menus.

Turn on Brand page styles

Click Turn on Brand page styles and Save. This app embed applies your Appearance settings to the blocks.

The guide also offers Brand SEO meta tags, an optional embed for sharing images (SEO).

When all five steps are done, Dismiss guide replaces it with a Theme section that shows each block’s status. Show setup guide brings the guide back.

Create brand pages

VendorDeck doesn’t create brand pages by itself, so you choose which brands get one:

  • Several brands: on Brands, select them and click Create pages.
  • One brand: open it and click Create page in the Status card.

Create the brand template first. See Brand pages for addresses and what VendorDeck keeps up to date.

Changing themes

Templates, blocks and app embeds belong to a theme. When you publish another theme, repeat steps 2, 3 and 5 in it. The guide only checks your published theme, and shows Your theme has changed when the new one is missing the templates.
