Brand pages

How VendorDeck creates brand pages in Shopify, their addresses, and what it keeps up to date.

A brand page is an ordinary Shopify page with an empty body. The Brand page content block on the brand template fills it with the brand’s logo, banner, text and products.

Creating pages

  • Several brands: on Brands, select them and click Create pages. VendorDeck creates the pages in the background, and a banner shows the progress, so you can leave the page.
  • One brand: open it and click Create page in the Status card.

Your plan sets how many brands can have a page (Plans).

The page is titled with the brand’s display name, and it’s published if the brand is visible. It uses the brand template when your published theme has one, so create the template first. A page created before that switches to it the next time you save a change to the brand.

Addresses

Brand pages live at /pages/brand- followed by the vendor name, like /pages/brand-nike-sportswear. To leave out brand-, choose /pages/{slug} under Settings > URLs > Brand page URL format.

  • The address comes from the vendor name, so a display name doesn’t change it.
  • If another page already uses the address, VendorDeck adds a number, like /pages/brand-nike-2.
  • The format applies to pages created afterwards. To move an existing page, delete it in Online Store > Pages, click Validate pages on Brands, then create the brand’s page again.

What VendorDeck keeps up to date

Saving a brand updates its page’s title, visibility, page title and meta description, so change those in VendorDeck rather than in Online Store > Pages. Your edits there are overwritten at the next save.

Don’t change a brand page’s handle in Shopify: VendorDeck then treats the page as no longer its own and stops updating it.

Deleted pages

If a brand page is deleted in Shopify, VendorDeck notices when you open the brand, when you open Brands (at most once an hour), or when you click Validate pages. The brand then shows No page and can get a new one.

The directory page

The setup guide creates the directory page (step 4). After that, VendorDeck leaves it alone: rename it, edit its search listing or delete it in Online Store > Pages. If you delete it, Show setup guide on the Dashboard offers to create it again.
