The **Brand directory** block goes on the `brands-directory` page template ([setup](/getting-started/setup)). It lists every visible brand, sorted by vendor name, with a search field and an A-Z index of the letters your brands start with.

Each card links to the brand's page. A brand without a page links to your store's collection of its products instead.

Brand names and links are part of the page's HTML, so search engines see them. Changes to your brands reach the directory within a minute or two.

## Settings

| Setting | Options |
| --- | --- |
| **Heading** | Empty by default, since your theme shows the page title. Add one for a second heading |
| **Layout** | **Grid** or **List** |
| **Columns**, **Columns on mobile** | 2 to 6 (default 4), and 1 to 3 (default 2), for the grid |
| **Show search**, **Show A-Z index**, **Show brand logo**, **Show product count** | On by default |
| **Show brand description** | Shows each brand's short description. Off by default |
| **Show brands with no products** | Off by default |
| **Card style**, **Image ratio**, **Text alignment** | How grid cards look |
| **Top padding**, **Bottom padding** | Space around the block |
