title: Installation
description: What your store needs, the permissions VendorDeck asks for, and what happens right after you install it.
---

## Requirements

- An Online Store 2.0 theme, such as Dawn or Horizon. Vintage themes aren't supported.
- The Online Store sales channel.
- A **Vendor** on your products. Products without one don't belong to any brand.

## Install

Install VendorDeck from the Shopify App Store and approve its permissions. You start on the Free plan, and can change plans later ([Plans](/help/plans)).

VendorDeck opens on its **Dashboard** and starts importing your brands, one for each vendor. The **Importing your brands** banner shows while it runs, which usually takes less than a minute.

## Permissions

| Permission | Why |
| --- | --- |
| Products (read) | To find your vendors and count their products |
| Online store pages (read and write) | To create and update brand pages and the directory page |
| Themes (read) | To check that the blocks are on the right templates |
| Files (read and write) | To store logos and banners in **Content > Files** |
| Translations and store languages | To translate brand pages |
| App proxy | To load products and brands on your storefront |

VendorDeck never reads customers, orders or payments.
